LITERACY SUPPORTERS THANK THE FIRST LADY
FOR HER CONTINUED SUPPORT
Literacy supporters from around the state joined the New Mexico Coalition for Literacy on
June 15, 2007 in Socorro for its 19th Annual Meeting and gave thanks to First Lady, Barbara Richardson, for her undying support of literacy in New Mexico at that time
.
Supporters signed a thank you letter and Rena Paradis, Executive Director of the NMCL, presented it to the First Lady care of Lee Witt. The two are pictured here.

THE
QWEST FOUNDATION AWARDS THE NMCL A GRANT OF $2,500...

On July 8, 2008, the Qwest Foundation presented the NMCL with a generous check for $2,750
to
train volunteer tutors.

  New Mexico Coalition for Literacy:
  • Would you like to volunteer for us? Please see the following Job Description.
  • NMCL web-based Curriculum:
    • The Coalition offers a web-based curriculum focusing on New Mexico history and genealogy of common Hispanic family names.  It can be found here and is presented in three formats:
      1. In printed workbook form available from the Coalition.  The workbooks are presented in three levels of difficulty.
      2. In PDF format, downloadable from this website, corresponding to the printed workbooks.
      3. In web-based form.

    Each form of the curriculum contains web-based exercises focusing on New Mexico history and common Hispanic family names.  This site is suitable for literacy students at any level.  Included are instructions for tutors on how to use the curriculum with students.

 
 

Catholic Charities:

  • Catholic Charities in Albuquerque is currently accepting applications for a part-time pool of ESL and GED Instructors. They will hire as positions open. For more information, see the following Job Description.

THE
PNM FOUNDATION AWARDS THE COALITION A GRANT OF $10,000...
On October 20, 2006, the PNM Foundation presented the Coalition with a generous check for $10,000 to be used for training volunteer tutors over the next year.
